Congenital Coronary Artery Anomalies

Abstract
Congenital coronary artery anomalies have long been recognized, but the frequency of such reports has increased greatly since the introduction of the diagnostic coronary arteriography.
Congenital coronary artery anomalies constitute a group of lesions which encompasses aberrations considered of no clinical significance, together with anomalies of major clinical import.
In most instances, the natural history of coronary anomalies is not associated with normal life expectancy, with possible exception of patients with congenital origin of the right coronary artery from the pulmonary artery.
Since these anomalies can now be safely corrected with gratifying long term results, surgical intervention should be strongly recommended once a precise diagnosis has been established.
